What is the Best Glue for Hard Plastics?

What is the Best Glue for Hard Plastics?

Always use Loctite Plastic Bonder, JB Weld Plastic Bonder, or Gorilla Super Glue. But the last one won’t work on hard plastics containing Polyethylene Or Polypropylene Plastic. I will explain it further in this article. Here is my test:

  • Loctite Plastic Bonder (Even on Polyethylene Or Polypropylene Plastic)
  • JB Weld Plastic Bonder on Hard Plastic
  • Super Glue And Baking Soda – Traditional and Budget Method
What is the Best Glue for Hard Plastics

Loctite Plastic Bonder (Even on Polyethylene Or Polypropylene Plastic)

Loctite Epoxy Plastic Bonder
Loctite Plastic Bonder is designed to repair and bond various types of plastic materials, such as ABS, hard plastic, soft plastic, PVC, and fiberglass.
Its formula consists of two parts: resin and hardener. It creates a strong and permanent bond. The dual syringe feature enables precise mixing during application. Additionally, it is resistant to water, solvents, moisture, and impact.

Glued Cracked Refrigerator Drawers

To address the problem, regular Gorilla Super Glue Gelsuperglue is not sufficient (as it will not bond with polyethylene or polypropylene plastic); we need a different solution.

Gorilla Super Glue won't work on Polyethylene Or Polypropylene Plastic

Fortunately, JB Weld Plastic bonder is effective for all types of plastics. Here’s what you need to do: First, apply the activator and patiently wait for 60 seconds. Then, apply the glue to the affected area and firmly hold it in place for 30 seconds.

Additionally, to prevent the cracks from spreading further, it is advisable to drill a small hole at the bottom of the crack. Finally, reinsert the drawer back into its place.

Glue an Interior Piece from the Rx7

I was working on the interior piece from the Rx7.

I applied some glue, using 220 grit and lacquer thinner. After cleaning it, I was eager to test the plastic bonder. I allowed it to dry overnight, and I was hopeful that by using Loctite’s plastic bonder, I could fix the piece.

Before applying the bonder, I made sure to thoroughly clean the surface. Fortunately, the repair turned out to be a success, and the piece was restored to its original condition.

JB Weld Plasticbonder is A Quick-Set, 2 Part, Urethane Adhesive System That Provides Strong, Lasting Repairs And Works On Thermoset, Carbon Fiber Composites, Thermoplastics, Coated Metals, Concrete & More.
I have used it on my 2003 Pontiac Grand Am dashboard, and it worked perfectly. After clamping it for 15 minutes, it was solid, and after letting it set overnight, it was absolutely perfect.

Glued Cracked Car Speaker

I was trying to replace the OEM Ford speakers which sound like crap with Focal’s budget line of speakers that sound way better.

Glued Cracked Car Speaker
Breaking trim clips or tabs in your *new* car makes you feel really bad but then when you put everything back together you end up finding out that most of them are redundant and everything fits together about 95% as good as it did before you touched it.

Here’s my experience in resolving a challenging issue that arose during the installation of rear speakers:

I accidentally damaged the tabs. To rectify the situation, I employed a two-step solution. Firstly, I used Gorilla Hot Glue Stickshot glue to secure the tabs back in their original position. Afterward, I applied JB-Weld Plastic Bonder to the entire affected area. This adhesive proved to be highly effective, allowing for a seamless reassembly of the speakers, and restoring them to their original state without any noticeable differences.

Car Mirror Plastic Repair

The mirror on the car had already been damaged, and unfortunately, it was broken again when a bird collided with it. The impact was significant, leaving meat remnants on the vehicle. Initially, I mistook it for someone throwing a burger while driving, as there was a thumping sound when an SUV passed by. The bird ended up getting stuck between the cars. Even after going through an automated touchless car wash, there were still visible stains, blood, and feathers.

However, I found a reliable solution using JB Weld Plastic Bonder, which proved to be a solid and effective product. Once again, JB Weld has delivered outstanding results.

Super Glue And Baking Soda – Traditional and Budget Method

Gorilla Super Glue Gel
I’ve noticed that the Gorilla Super Glue Gel is more fluid and comes out of the bottle quicker compared to typical superglue. This feature has been a game-changer for me, especially when working on hard plastic projects. Waiting for glue to come out of an inverted bottle can get old after 15-20 applications in a single session. With this product, the process is much faster, and it provides the same level of adhesion.

Fixed My Hockey Sticks

All you need is some CA glue or super glue and baking soda.

All you gotta do is get these two to react, and they’ll form a hard surface, you can fill in areas or just make something secure.
Once it’s done it will be hard and you can save it.

Sometimes it’s easier to put the glue in first & the soda on top. Build up with thinner layers.
