How to fix scratches in countertops with super glue?
No need to replace the countertops, just do a simple DIY repair. I’ll show you how to fix it with super glue, CA glue or other adhesives that you might have on hand. And I’ll also share a more effective method even if you got marks on the countertop!
Tutorial: Fix Scratches in Countertops With Super Glue/CA Glue
We’ll use Star Bond Black medium thick instant adhesive or Superglue in this tutorial.
Total Time: 2 hours
Step 1: Prepare the Countertop
Ensure that the countertop is clean and free from any dirt, debris, or loose material. Wipe it down with a damp cloth and allow it to dry completely before proceeding.
Step 2: Apply Star Bond Black or Super Glue
Using the micro tip applicator, carefully apply the Star Bond Black adhesive directly into the cracks. Start from one end and work your way along the entire length of each crack. Ensure that the adhesive fills the cracks completely, leaving no gaps.
Step 3: Wipe Off Excess Adhesive
If you accidentally apply more adhesive than needed or if it spills onto the countertop surface, quickly grab a paper towel and gently wipe off the excess adhesive. It’s important to do this while the adhesive is still wet for easier removal.
Step 4: Apply Adhesive in Small Amounts
To prevent the adhesive from drying too quickly, apply it in small amounts at a time. This will give you more control and allow you to work efficiently. Continue filling the cracks with adhesive until they are completely filled.
Step 5: Spray with Activator
Once you have filled the cracks with adhesive, spray the entire repaired area with the activator. The activator helps to accelerate the curing process of the adhesive, making it harden faster.
Supply:
- Star Bond Black medium thick instant adhesive or Superglue
- Micro tip applicator

Repair Cracked Countertops With Marine Weld
Materials Needed
- JB MarineWeld Syringe – contains both resin and hardener
- Acetone or denatured alcohol for cleaning
- Sandpaper – 80 grit and 220 grit
- Mixing surface – cardboard, wood scrap, etc.
- Applicator – popsicle sticks, stir stick, etc.
Complete Tutorial
To start, you’ll need to clean and prepare the area around the crack. Use some acetone or denatured alcohol on a rag to remove any grease, dirt, or debris. Then take a piece of sandpaper and rough up the surface around the crack edges. This will help the epoxy adhere properly. Blow or wipe away any dust.
Next, you’ll mix up the two-part epoxy. Remove the replaceable cap on the syringe and squeeze out equal amounts of resin and hardener onto a disposable surface like cardboard or scrap wood. Mix the two parts for 2-3 minutes. Mix well from all sides to fully incorporate the resin and hardener.
Once mixed, use the applicator to fill the crack with the epoxy, overfilling slightly. Apply an even coat and ensure there are no air bubbles. Let the epoxy cure for 15-30 minutes until hardened but not fully set.
Now use a piece of 220 grit sandpaper to smooth and level the repaired area. Blend it in with the surrounding countertop. Remove any excess epoxy and continue sanding the edges until the repair is flush with the surface.
Finally, allow the epoxy to fully cure for 24 hours before using the countertop again. The repaired section can be sanded and re-polished if needed to match the finish.
How to Remove Marks from Countertops with Caulking
Process: Remove Marks from Countertops
I’ve tried countless cleaning solutions to remove marks from my countertops. Windex and other cleaners hardly made a dent in the stain.
As you can see, rubbing at the mark vigorously doesn’t remove it from the countertop surface.
The best method I’ve discovered is using some caulking. Simply apply a small amount of caulking directly onto the mark, spreading it around to fully cover the stain. Let the caulking dry and harden for a couple of minutes.
Once dried, come back and rub the caulking off. It will lift the stubborn countertop stain along with it. Just keep rubbing until all traces of the caulking and mark are gone.
Why it works?
This caulking technique removes marks from countertops like magic compared to traditional cleaning solutions. The caulking adheres to the stain, hardens, then pulls it away when removed. It’s an easy and effective way to erase marks and leave your countertop looking brand new again.
