I’m going to be showing you how to repair a rock chip on your windshield in 30 minutes with permatex.
How to Fix Stonechip On Windshield
A stone chip on a windshield refers to a small break or damage caused by a stone or other debris striking the glass surface of a vehicle’s windshield. It is a common occurrence while driving, especially on highways or roads where loose gravel or small rocks may be present.
When a stone impacts the windshield, it can chip or crack the glass, leading to potential problems if left unaddressed.
If you do not want the crack to spread so you have to get a brand-new windshield, here’s a really simple fix for this.
Total Time: 30 minutes
Step 1: Prepare the Crack
The first step is to take the thumbtack to try to get rid of any loose glass in the rock chip. Clean the cracked area of the windshield using a cloth or paper towel to remove any dirt or debris. This will ensure a better bond when applying the glue.
Step 2: Prepare the Glue Tab
Take the adhesive, and put it over the hole. Make sure the tab is facing up. I put mine on upside down. Peel off the second layer. Put the pedestal on top of it. Make sure it’s lined up correctly.
Step 3: Apply the Glue through Syringe
Open the resin bottle and squeeze it into the hole until it comes out. Take the syringe and push it in.
Then you want to pull the plunger up and put it in a locking position so that it is creating pressure.
Let sit for 10 minutes before moving on to the next step.
Step 4: Get All the Air Out
Knock around the glass to get all the air out. You can look inside to make sure the bubbles are out of the crack.
Step 5: Let the Air in. Push in the Resin.
The next step is to pull the syringe out. Then put it back on, letting air into it.
Then unlock the plunger and push it down to the next clip to create pressure pushing the resin into the crack.
Let sit for 20 minutes. Then you need to take the syringe off of the pedestal.
Step 6: Peel off Excess Glue
Take the razor blade to peel it off. Clean up any resin left behind.
Step 7: Use the Resin
Put Resin On Top of the Crack.
Step 8: Put the Plastic Square On Top of the Crack.
Make sure there’s no air. Use the razor blade to get it all out.
Use the razor blade to scrape off the plastic square and the resin.
Let sit for 15 mins if in direct sun. let sit for 1 hour if cloudy before moving on to the next step
Step 8: Prevent Further Damage
I’ll recommend a decent option to protect your windshield in the next section.
