What Is Gorilla Clear Grip

Gorilla Clear Grip
I highly recommend Gorilla Clear Grip for a wide range of crafting, repair, and bonding projects. Its ability to adhere to diverse materials, its clear and flexible finish, and its user-friendly application make it a valuable addition to any DIYer’s toolkit.

āœ…Gorilla Clear Grip: Impressive Bonding Capabilities

One of the first things I noticed about this product is its impressive bonding capabilities. From Mylar to paper, PLA plastic to rubber, and even leather, Gorilla Clear Grip has proven its ability to adhere to a variety of surfaces. Whether I’m working on a crafting project, repairing shoes, or attaching patches to a leather jacket, this adhesive has consistently delivered strong, lasting bonds.

Bonding

I had a stained glass piece that needed to be adhered to a metal frame, and the Gorilla Clear Grip Contact Adhesive worked like a charm. The clear aspect of the glue was essential to maintain the aesthetic of the glass, and it held up beautifully even after I hung it up the next day.

The initial grip of this adhesive can be a little low, so if you need an immediate hold, it’s best to supplement it with super glue. I’ve written an article about contact cement vs super glue. contact cement Vs. super glueFeel free to read it!

However, once you follow the instructions and allow it to set for 1-2 minutes before joining the surfaces, the bond becomes incredibly strong. I was relieved to see how well it held up, especially considering the previous glue I used for similar projects didn’t quite make the cut.

Application

Application is straightforward: simply apply a thin, even layer to both surfaces, allow it to become tacky (usually within a couple of minutes), and then press the pieces together firmly. The gel-like consistency makes it easy to spread and ensures a smooth, flat bond line once dried.

Gorilla Clear Grip Explained

One aspect that really impressed me was the lack of odor. As someone who often works in tight spaces or with materials sensitive to strong smells, I appreciated that Gorilla Clear Grip didn’t release any overpowering fumes during application or curing.

āŒCons: Gorilla Clear Grip

However, it’s important to note that while this adhesive is versatile, it may not be the best choice for certain demanding applications, such as bonding shoe soles or ceramics intended for long-term use. For those scenarios, a more heavy-duty epoxy or construction adhesive might be a better option.

I have doubts about its effectiveness on rubber due to the high oil content present. For rubber-related projects, I would recommend using rubber cement instead.

My Hands-on Test of E6000

E6000
Whether I’m gluing Legos, fabric to metal, stones, beads, rhinestones, magnets, or just about anything else you can imagine, E6000 delivers amazing adhesion that really lasts.

āœ…Incredible Versatility Across Materials

One of the best things about this glue is its incredible versatility across materials. I’ve used it to bond glass, seashells, and even polymer clay to metal with no issues. It adheres beautifully to cement, plastic, vinyl, rubber, and more. I’ve repaired ceramic plates and mugs by gluing broken pieces back together seamlessly. The glue dries completely clear, so it’s perfect for embellishing projects without leaving white globs behind.

E6000-for-jewelry-making

For wearable crafts like adding patches to hats or rhinestones to shoes, E6000 is my go-to. It forms a very sturdy, flexible bond that can withstand flex and movement over time without loosening up. I’ve used it to rhinestone Crocs and it stayed on perfectly, even with regular wear and washing (just hand wash embellished items). The glue is waterproof once cured, so it can even be used for outdoor vinyl pond liners.

E6000 Explained

A little E6000 goes a long way thanks to its thick formula that doesn’t run all over the place. The small 0.18 oz tube is perfect for detailed work and controlled application. I always have these little tubes on hand for all my craft glueing needs. Bigger tubes or bottles are available for larger projects too.

Whether I’m fixing up old toys, embellishing accessories and clothing, repairing household items, or working on any other craft, E6000 is truly a crafter’s best friend and a must-have adhesive in my supply box. Its incredible versatility across materials, durability, and strength make it an exceptional all-purpose craft glue that delivers professional results.

E6000

āŒE6000 does have a powerful odor initially

I recommend using it in a well-ventilated area and allowing plenty of cure time before use if adding it to something like the inside of a hat. Speaking of cure time, it starts to grab very quickly but takes overnight to fully cure into that rubbery, flexible final form.

FAQ of E6000

Q: Will E6000 be strong enough to secure a large mirror to a wooden furniture piece?

A: To ensure a strong bond, I recommend using a generous amount of glue and employing a support mechanism to hold it in place until it fully dries.

Q: How can I eliminate the unpleasant smell from clothing? I’ve washed my T-shirts, but the odor remains nauseating. What can I use to neutralize the smell?

A: Personally, I have never faced this issue as I use E6000 for all my projects. However, you could try using vinegar and baking soda. Soak the clothing in a mixture of these ingredients and then proceed with a regular wash. Hopefully, this should help eliminate the smell. I also recommend this article: b 7000 vs e6000

Q: Can I use E6000 for a vacuum hose connected to a truck mount?

A: I don’t believe it would be suitable. You might require a vice clamp for that purpose.

Q: I need a permanent glue to adhere fabric to plastic. Will E6000 work?

A: I’m not entirely certain, but I think a two-part epoxy glue (See will gorilla glue work on plastic )would be more suitable for your needs.
