Krazy Glue Vs. Gorilla Glue: Press-on Nails, Hard Polystyrene Plastic to Semi-porous Wood, Fabrics, Dries Clear

Last updated on March 20, 2024 / Reviewed by Ronald, a 🎖️10-year Adhesive Industry Veteran  @stickyaides in 🌉San Francisco

Krazy Glue Vs. Gorilla Glue: What’s The Difference?

The main difference between Krazy Glue Vs. Gorilla Glue Is that Gorilla Glue is the strongest when bonding two different materials together, such as wood and glass, but it is not recommended for use on polyethylene or polypropylene plastic or similar materials. Krazy Glue is the strongest when bonding the same kinds of materials together, such as wood to wood. Gorilla Glue uses polyurethane as the basic component, while Krazy Glue uses cyanoacrylate as its primary compound for its glue.

My Hands-on Test of Krazy Glue (Krazy Glue Elmer’s Original)

Krazy Glue All Purpose
I recommend Krazy Glue for small fixes around the house and office. It is versatile and holds up well with proper care. The small tube is fine for most projects, and if you do have product left, insert the pin provided to keep the nozzle clean.

✅Pros

The glue itself is great and works for jobs such as shoe repair and gluing rubber feet onto wrought iron chairs.

Push Pin Cap

In order to test it, I purchased a new Krazy Glue three-pack for quick fixes around the house and office. The push pin cap is genius and keeps the glue from hardening after opening the tube, unlike the old method where you had to jam a needle down the tube tip to break a pathway through the hardened glue. The first tube has lasted me longer than a year and is still usable. The three-pack was perfect for my needs, and I have three now just in case.

Strong

The glue is super strong and only requires one drop. It works great for fixing broken items and is always awesome.

the power of Krazy Glue
the power of Krazy Glue

I was able to reattach a part of a decoration that came broken in the mail, fix a bedroom drawer, and a loose bathroom mirror. I also used it for a DIY project and had a blast trying to get it off my hands for hours. It’s like a permanent friendship; it just sticks with you. I highly recommend it for endless entertainment!

Use Tips

To use the glue, you need to work fast as it is super sticky. Hold it in place for a few seconds to allow the glue to completely seal and dry. After each use, close the cap tightly and put it inside the larger crazy glue container that is provided to avoid evaporation. You will get a lot of uses out of the tiny glue bottle if you seal it tightly after each use. I also recommend putting the cap back on the glue bottle after gluing a surface to keep the glue from becoming hard while working on a project.

❌Cons

I like the results. However, the shipping time was not even close to a PRIME experience. The glue itself is fantastic, but the shipping was a letdown. Also, I was expecting full tubes, but it was just little squeeze bottles. Not terrible for the price, but it’s good to know what you’re getting.

I'm using Krazy Glue all-purpose on the end of a bamboo stick, but it doesn't seem to stick properly when I check it. What could be the issue?

In my experience, Krazy Glue tends to work better on certain surfaces and may not provide a permanent bond. It's possible that the surface of the bamboo stick is not ideal for the glue to adhere properly.

What U May Be Interested in Krazy Glue

Q: Can this glue be used on silicone surfaces?

A: I would recommend using Silicone Glue or Silicone Caulk on Silicone Surfaces for better results. You can take a look at my review of What adhesive sticks to Silicone?

Q: Is it possible to use krazy glue on fabrics?

A: Typically, cyanoacrylates like super glue and krazy glue are designed for non-porous surfaces. Most fabrics are porous, except for leather and vinyl. It’s important to note that these types of glue won’t adhere well to fabrics or surfaces with tiny holes. For fabric-related projects, it’s recommended to use a fabric glue specifically designed for that purpose.

Q: Can Krazy Glue be used to glue seashells?

A: Yes, Krazy Glue can be used for gluing seashells.

Q: Does Krazy Glue have a toxic odor?

A: No, Krazy Glue does not have a toxic odor.

Q: Can the glue be used multiple times? How long does it last after opening for the first time?

A: Yes, you can reuse the glue multiple times by using the pin cap to close it securely after each use. As long as you store it properly, it can last for a long time without drying up. Unfortunately, there is no specific expiration date mentioned on the packaging. Instructions on how to use the glue can be found on the back of the card.

Q: Is Krazy Glue suitable for gluing items to fabric?

A: Yes, it works well for gluing items to fabric.

Q: Would Krazy Glue be a good choice for applying press-on nails?

Q: Krazy Glue claims to work on rubber, but is it flexible once dried?

A: It is somewhat flexible, but I would advise against using it on rubber surfaces that experience constant movement.

Q: My plastic prescription glasses broke in half. Can Krazy Glue be used to repair them?

A: I have repaired plastic with glue before, but the success may vary depending on the type of plastic. It is important to consider this as a temporary solution, and for a more reliable long-term repair, epoxy or contact cement might be a better option. However, please be cautious as a DIY repair could complicate matters if it is not successful, and a professional repair may be required.

Q: Is Krazy Glue flame resistant?

A: No, it is not flame resistant.

Q: Is Krazy Glue waterproof or water-resistant?

A: While the glue may offer some resistance to water, prolonged soaking can eventually weaken the bond.

Q: Will Krazy Glue work for bonding rubber to plastic on my walking boot?

A: Krazy Glue claims to bond rubber, so it should work for your walking boot. I recommend allowing the glue to cure for at least 24 hours to ensure a strong bond.

Q: Does Krazy Glue dry transparent?

A: Yes, it dries clear.

Q: Do you have any tips for removing Krazy Glue from granite counters?

A: I have successfully removed dried glue from my granite bathroom counter numerous times. Once the glue has dried, I gently use a small razor, which I typically use for scraping paint off the floor, to carefully scrape the glue off. This method has always worked for me.

Several days ago, I did a test on E6000 vs. Gorilla Glue, and here is my hands-on test of the Gorilla Glue.

My Hands-on Test of Gorilla Glue (Gorilla Super Glue Gel XL)

Gorilla Super Glue Gel XL
This Gorilla Glue did have its merits. It proved to be long-lasting and resistant to water, making it ideal for outdoor use. I even used it to temporarily fix a broken wheel and a hole in my suitcase while traveling. It held up well until I could fully address the issues.

✅Pros of Gorilla Super Glue

This Gorilla Glue has incredible holding power. I was pleasantly surprised when I used it to secure the legs of a coffee table to a marble surface. Despite my initial doubts, the adhesive held up exceptionally well, proving its reliability and strength. It surpassed my expectations and left me thoroughly impressed.

Versatility

Another aspect I loved about this adhesive is its versatility. It worked wonders when I used it to repair my bathroom sink, making it look as good as new. Additionally, I successfully fixed a trellis and even glued moss back onto a wreath using the spray can version of the adhesive. The fact that it performed admirably across different materials and applications showcases its remarkable adaptability.

Long-lasting

Furthermore, this adhesive offers long-lasting results. Once it sets, it forms a strong bond that can withstand the test of time. I was particularly impressed when I used it to fix a plastic CPAP mask, which requires flexibility due to continuous use. Unlike other glues I’ve tried in the past, this adhesive held up for months without showing any signs of weakening.

Water Resistance

One significant advantage of this adhesive is its water resistance. It’s perfect for outdoor applications, as it can’t be washed away by water. I even used it to temporarily fix a broken wheel and a hole in my suitcase during a trip, and it held up admirably until I could properly address the issues. This feature adds an extra layer of reliability and convenience.

❌Cons of Gorilla Super Glue

Gorilla Glue claimed to work on almost any surface, but as I put it to the test, I discovered that it performed better on certain materials than others. It had a unique silicone-like texture, which was a bit dry and left a greasy residue. Cleaning it off the provided spout was a bit of a challenge.
