What’s the difference between Shoe Goo Vs Loctite Shoe Glue?

The main difference between Loctite and Shoe Goo is that Loctite is a moisture-curing polymer without any solvents. Loctite fills gaps up to 5mm. The Shoe Goo is water-resistant right after you apply it.

My Hands-on Test: Loctite Shoe Glue

Loctite Shoe Glue
I’ve already used the first tube to repair some sandals and sneaker soles, and the results have been impressive. Even though the instructions might suggest otherwise, I always use clamps and let the glue set for at least 24 hours to ensure a strong bond.

✅Pros: Loctite Shoe Glue

So far, the repairs have held up well for several weeks of regular use.

Loctite Shoe Glue Explained

Versatility

Not only did it work wonders on my tennis shoes, bonding the bottom sole back to the shoe’s base and keeping my socks dry, but it also proved useful for repairing RC models and even fixing my dishwasher’s button assembly.

The precise application allowed by the small nozzle is a definite plus.

Glue Sandals

I also had the chance to test the glue on my wife’s beloved sandals, some of which are irreplaceable. In the past, I’ve used Barge Infinity CementBarge Cement for similar repairs, but the soles would eventually separate again.

barge Cement Vs Contact Cement

This time, I applied heavy beads of the Loctite Shoe Glue around the edges of the separated sole areas and clamped them for over 24 hours. The results were impressive – the glue set harder and seemed substantially stronger than the contact adhesive. My wife has worn the sandals for several hours, and so far, there’s no hint of re-separation.

❌Cons: Loctite Shoe Glue

Loctite Shoe Glue is hard to bond plastics such as PE, PP, PTFE. I’ve written an article about the Best Glue for Hard Plastics, and talked about why Gorilla Glue is not suitable fore hard plastics.

It holds almost anything together, and its clear and flexible drying properties make it even more versatile.
