Gorilla Super Glue vs. Gel: What’s The Difference?
Gorilla Super Glue Gel is a thicker and more controllable formula than our original Gorilla Super Glue. It’s great for projects where precision is key. Due to the gel-like consistency it requires shaking vigorously (with the cap on) before each use to remix the formula.
Gorilla Super Glue vs. Gel: Specs & Uses
⏰Fixture Time
Gorilla Super Glue: 15-60 seconds (1 drop/in2)
Gel: 10-45 seconds (1 drop/in2)
🆚Viscosity
Gorilla Super Glue: Liquid
Gel: Gel, 1000-1500 cps
🛠️Common Uses
Gorilla Super Glue is suitable for bonding metal surfaces; can be used to attach an RGB light strip to a particle board; used on porous surfaces like plaster with multiple thin layers; can bond polyurethane plastics; and repair stone cross.
Gel works on both leather and metal surfaces; safe to put an iron-on patch on leather; works on aluminum and most plastics, not on polyethylene or polypropylene.

My Hands-on Test of Gorilla Super Glue Gel
These pieces are still stuck together after years of being glued together with this brand, so if that doesn’t say long-lasting glue, I don’t know what does!
✅Pros
Also, I do get it on my hands a lot when I do this (whoops), but if you just wait and don’t pick at it, it’ll come off in a day or so.
Here’s how I’m using this Gorilla Super Glue Gel.
You just need a little glue to hold the plant until the roots attach to the wood. I’ll just attach the rest of these plants to the wood. Eventually, these plants will cover the wood completely. Here’s the tank with everything glued on.
Consistent Great Quality
The quality of this brand is consistently great every time I buy super glue gel. Since gel glue doesn’t run nearly as much and gets tacky before you press two pieces together again, it works better for keeping stuff together. In addition, it’s cleaner, since there won’t be extra glue dripping from the seam.
Beginner-Friendly
Gorilla Super Glue Gel is great for how well the final bond is. Definitely beginner-friendly as far as super glues go, again for the reasons already mentioned. The dry times will vary based on temperature, humidity, and a few other factors. If you need something to dry fast, though, you can try the mix of baking soda and cyanoacrylate(Gorilla Glue Gel) for a quick and still very strong bond.
Versatility
Once I realized it could be used for plastic, I figured I’d give it a try since it always worked for woodworking. I got two bottles in about a day. It’s really annoying when one of the earpieces cracks and splits on the top where the grey link attaches it to the headband. So I didn’t want to spend another $200+ on another headset so I could still use my game DAC.
So I decided to try this glue and glue the split back together and then glue the top of the earpiece itself to the grey link that attaches to the headband. This glue never fails me; it works so well! It holds very well (I tried pulling it apart). Thanks to this glue, I saved another $200+!
❌Cons
I will say, depending on the amount of glue you are using, keep in mind the more you use, the longer it will take to harden, but it will. Also, wear gloves when using. I was stupid and did not do that, got some on my finger, now I feel like I’m wearing artificial skin. One last thing, I saw a few bad comments on this, but one stuck out the most to me. Some people said that it did not even glue the package it came in back together. Well, there is nothing about this glue that says it will work on cardboard. Don’t let stupid comments like that scare you away from this product.

My Hands-on Test of Gorilla Super Glue
✅Pros of Gorilla Super Glue
My air mattress had a little problem. Since the mattress surface isn’t plastic, the tape didn’t stick.
The Gorilla Glue, however, created a surface that the Gorilla Tape could stick to permanently when applied on top of the mattress surface. Every time it worked like a charm. It all went downhill from there. In an accident, I tore a huge 14-inch tear in the mattress. It seemed beyond repair, but I tried the same technique. It took less than 10 minutes to seal the tear with Gorilla Glue and Gorilla Tape. Though it doesn’t look pretty, it holds up to my full weight, and I can use it again. It’s amazing what these two products can do together.
Strong Adhesion
The next repair I had to do was fix a slate clock case that had been destroyed. My first attempt was epoxy, but it was too thick. Then I used Gorilla Gel super glue. It worked like a charm, making the joint strong without clamping. After applying a couple drops, holding the pieces together for 10-20 seconds, it worked perfectly. Make sure you clean the nozzle after each use and screw the cap on.
Repair Sunglasses
My sunglasses had bifocal readers that needed fixing. There was a problem with one of the eyepieces. Using just a little Gorilla Super Glue, I created a strong bond without clamping. I finally have two working pairs of sunglasses again after letting it dry for 24 hours. In the past, I’ve tried other super glue brands, but they’ve all disappointed me.
❌Cons of Gorilla Super Glue
Unfortunately, the glue expands a little, so you’ll have to clean that up. Also, the glue dries up if left with the cap on for a few months.
